Our missions

The PAS has two main functions:

Hub for international, European, national and regional logistics

The logistics services present at the PAS cover international, European, national and regional distribution. They have some first-class advantages:

  • Strategic positioning on the Rhine, with privileged access to Rotterdam and Antwerp, Europe’s leading ports and the main points of entry for international trade with Europe
  • Extremely lively multimodal activity, with the strong backing of river infrastructures and excellent port facilities, plus 100 km of rail network
  • A strong, diversified industrial basis, which has given rise to powerful logistics services
  • Recognised expertise in the logistics field
  • Logistics with high added value that generates employment
Logistics cluster

The PAS pursues policies that encourage modal shift and development in favour of increasing the use of the massified modes of transport that rail and river transport represent.

The PAS makes its land and stretches of water (docks) available to businesses for industrial and commercial purposes at a number of sites:

  • at the port of Lauterbourg, under the brand name R3FLEX (link),
  • in Beinheim,
  • in Strasbourg: the 1 000 hectares owned by the PAS are home to 500 businesses employing 10 000 people,
  • in Marckolsheim, and
  • at eight loading stations along the Rhine riverfront..

The PAS develops and maintains the port area and its infrastructures.
